Top Tips
Here are some of our Top Tips for readers of Summer Camp Secrets.
Tori's Top Ten Tips for a Summery Glow- all year round!
- Drink plenty of water to help keep your skin clear and hydrated.
- Get a good night’s sleep, ideally at least 8 hours (although this can be pretty tricky when I’m at camp!)
- It’s tough, but try not to squeeze your spots as it can actually spread infection. Ick!
- Everybody gets nervous sometimes…but try not to take it out on your nails by biting them.
- If you’re out in the sun, always wear sun-cream and a hat. Yes, a tan can look cute, but it actually damages the skin.
- Eat fresh fruit, lots of veggies and wholewheat foods. A healthy camper is a happy camper. But...
- Don’t forget to treat yourself. The occasional s’more never hurt anyone!
- Floss! It helps get rid of the bacteria lurking between your teeth and is as important as brushing your teeth twice a day!
- Make-up is so much fun, but remember – less is more. A little mascara and lipgloss can go a long way! And always, always, take your make-up off before you go to bed.
- Smile – it’s easy, free and brightens your mood.
Natalie's Top 5 Things to do in New York
- Try an egg cream at The Soda Shop, Chambers Street. The name “egg cream” might sound a bit weird, but they don’t actually have any eggs or cream in them – honest! They’re basically chocolate syrup with cold milk, topped up with selzer (soda water) to make them frothy. They taste a bit like ice-cream soda – yummy!
- Take a buggy ride in Central Park. This is supposed to be one of those really romantic things for couples to do, but it’s great fun with your friends too!
- Go shopping (well, obviously!) – Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s are the best places to start.
- Eat! The food in New York is the best – bagels, frappuccinos, sushi – it’s all good. And there are restaurants serving every type of food you can imagine (and some you can’t!) from countries all over the world – go on, try something new.
- Hit the theatre – you can’t come to New York without experiencing a Broadway production, whether it’s Grease, Legally Blonde or Wicked. Try the TKTS booth in Times Square for discounted tickets.
Brynn's Top 5 Movies for a Girls' Night In
- Grease – the classic. What more can you say?
- Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Audrey Hepburn is a legend and old films are soooo cool.
- Freaky Friday – did you know the first version of this film was made in 1976?! The 2003 one with Lindsay Lohan is so much fun though!
- My Fair Lady – I love putting on a Cockney accent to sing along to the songs!
- High School Musical – feel-good musicals are just the best!
